Hospital Price Watch

What this is

Hospital Price Watch publishes negotiated commercial prices for 300 hospitals in the New York / New Jersey / Connecticut tri-state region. The data comes from each hospital's CMS-mandated machine-readable transparency file (45 CFR 180) and is validated against RAND's employer-claims dataset (Spearman ρ = 0.74).

For each hospital we publish a regional-median price ratio: a value of 1.00x matches the regional median, 1.50x is 50 percent above, 0.70x is 30 percent below. Ratings reflect commercial-payer rates only and use a 5x outlier cap.
